Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! We are excited to welcome new and returning students to Limestone. On Wednesday, our schools and classrooms will once again be filled with students, staff, and families as we begin a new year of learning together. I hope you had a wonderful summer with family and friends. To help mark the start of the school year, I invite you to watch our Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year video online.

As we begin this new school year, we do so with a shared commitment to creating welcoming, caring, and engaging learning environments for all students. Across Limestone, our staff are focused on making a positive difference in the lives of every student, in every classroom, in every school. We look forward to the year ahead and to working together with families to support student learning, well-being, and success.

A few reminders and updates for students and families as we begin the school year:

System-Wide Focus on Core Academic Skills

Building core academic skills in numeracy and literacy continues to be an important priority across Limestone. Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to strengthen these skills through classroom learning, targeted supports, and helpful resources. Families can also find activities and tutoring options on Limestone’s Online Learning Resources and Tutoring webpage to support learning at home.

Importance of Student Attendance

Being at school regularly helps students build strong routines, stay connected to their learning, and feel part of their classroom community. Families can help by making school attendance a daily priority and, when possible, booking appointments outside school hours. We also know that some students may need extra support to attend regularly, and schools are here to help.

Reminder – First Day of School is Wednesday, September 2, 2026

A reminder to all students and families that the first day of school is on Wednesday, September 2.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1, is a Professional Activity Day (P.A. Day) for Limestone staff, and there are no classes for students.

We look forward to welcoming students to Limestone schools and classrooms on Wednesday.

Student and Family Support Office

The Student and Family Support Office is available to help students and families find answers, navigate the school system, and connect with the right supports. It provides an additional place to turn when questions or concerns about a student’s education are complex, or you need help being directed to the appropriate school or board team. More information about the Student and Family Support Office is available on Limestone’s website.

As we begin the year together, thank you for being part of the Limestone community. We are excited for the learning, growth, connection, and celebration that lie ahead, and we remain committed to working alongside families to help every student feel welcomed, supported, and ready to thrive. Wishing all Limestone students, staff, and families a wonderful start to the school year.

Thank you,

Krishna Burra
