As of June 21, 2021, there is one active case of COVID-19 in a student learning remotely at Kingston Secondary School. As a result, there is no risk to students or staff and no cohorts are required to isolate.

------------

KFL&A Public Health has been notified of new positive cases of COVID-19 within the Limestone District School Board.
These cases pose no risk to students or staff and no cohorts are required to isolate.

Schools are currently closed to most students who are learning remotely. Some schools across the district are open for in-person learning for students with significant special education needs who cannot be accommodated via remote learning.

Instances when a positive case in a school poses no risk to the school include:

  • The case(s) is learning or teaching virtually and has not been in the school.
  • The case(s) was already isolating and not attending school because they were previously identified as a close contact of a case.
  • The case(s) was not present at the school when they were infectious.

KFL&A Public Health works closely with schools to ensure that necessary steps are taken to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community. No further information will be released to maintain privacy.

Cases in schools must be reported locally and provincially and this will continue during remote learning via school and board websites and the board’s social media platforms. Because schools are closed to students and students are learning remotely, notification letters will not be sent to families directly as there is no action required.

Even during remote learning, Public Health encourages everyone to continue to monitor and screen students daily for symptoms of COVID-19 as most cases of COVID-19 are acquired in the home setting. Please continue to follow all public health directives.

Please visit the COVID-19 Confirmed Cases webpage for a list of current cases.
