Indigenous student working on an art program as part of The River ProgramThe River (formerly Katarokwi Aboriginal School) provides self-identified First Nations, Métis or Inuit student in Grade 9 to 12 with opportunities to learn about Indigenous cultures and to participate in traditional activities and ceremonies in holistic, cultural, project-based instruction.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in ceremonies and other cultural activities, and are provided ongoing cultural teachings and support from local Elders and knowledge keepers.

Students attend from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., weekdays, and earn up to four credits each semester. The River Program is located in the Katarokwi Education Centre, 38 Cowdy St., Kingston.

 

 

The Limestone District School Board is situated on traditional territories of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee.
