The Limestone District School Board offers elementary and secondary students an education that is enriched with diverse program choices and activities to complement curriculum requirements while supporting achievement and well-being and the overall success of every student.

We serve children age four and older at 50 elementary, 10 secondary and 8 alternative learning centres within a geographic area of 7,719-square kilometres across the City of Kingston, the Townships of Central Frontenac, North Frontenac, South Frontenac, Addington Highlands, Loyalist, Stone Mills, the Frontenac Islands and the Town of Greater Napanee.

New students: To register, the legal parent/guardian (or the student if they are older than age 18) is asked to complete a registration application. You must complete all sections and provide the school with original documentation as required.

Kindergarten students: If you are registering a student for Kindergarten for a new school year (September), children must turn age four (Year 1 Kindergarten) or age five (Year 2 Kindergarten) by December 31 of that year. Those students who are already enrolled in Year 1 Kindergarten do not register again.

In accordance with Board policy, students will be enrolled in the school designated within their boundary area, based on their home address. Proof of address must be provided to finalize the registration application.

To find the name and location of your local school, enter the student’s home address into the Locate A School tool, or call our Planning Office at 613-544-6925 ext. 305 or 1-800-267-0935 ext. 305.

Transfers/returning students: If you are requesting a transfer from one LDSB school to another LDSB school, or if the student is returning to LDSB from another Board, please complete the Transfer/Return to Limestone Request Form and email it to the school to which you are applying to ensure that registration is possible. List of schools and email addresses. If you are registering a student for Kindergarten or the student is new to LDSB, please complete the online Student Registration Form.

Who can register?

  • New students to the Limestone District School Board; and

  • Students from outside of the Limestone District School Board who are accepted into specialized programs.

Required documents

Once a registration application is in progress, parents/guardians are required to visit the school during school hours to submit documents for verification and sign the registration application.

Documents will include:

  • Proof of your child's age (birth certificate or passport;

  • Proof of address (household bills, federal government forms);

  • Proof of immunization (visit KFL&A Public Health to report your child's immunization record);

  • Proof of any custodial or court documents if applicable; and

  • Health or medical alert information if applicable.

Registration will not be confirmed until the school has obtained the required documents, parents/guardians have signed the registration application, and the principal has provided approval.

Out-of-boundary registrations

Out-of-boundary students may be considered for enrolment in a school if space is available in the requested grade and/or program. Please note, the Board is not responsible for providing transportation to out-of-boundary students. All out-of-boundary registrations are placed on a waiting list. Should space be available for an out-of-boundary student, parents/guardians will be notified by mid-to late September. All requests are approved by the school principal.

All students wishing to register for an out-of-boundary school should complete two online registration forms: one for their home school and one for the out-of-boundary school.

International Students

The International Education Program gives students from outside Canada the opportunity to study at a local elementary or secondary school in the Limestone District School Board’s jurisdiction. International students interested in registering for our program should email the International Education Office or call 613-544-7745.

How to direct your tax support

Ratepayers have the opportunity to declare and/or revise their school support designation through the Application for Direction of School Support under the Assessment Act.

This information is used to direct your school taxes; to prepare voters' lists for municipal and school board elections; and to help with municipal and school board planning.

When you designate your tax support for English public schools, you are sending the government a message that you support the only fully inclusive school board in Ontario.

Application for Direction of School Support

The Limestone District School Board is situated on traditional territories of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee.
