The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) has organized various programming to support Truth and Reconciliation Week (September 27 to October 1), a five-day national event that will continue the conversations from Every Child Matters including the truths of the Indigenous treaties, First Nation, Métis and Inuit land claims, and the residential schools system.
All schools and board sites, including the Board office, will lower flags to half-mast for the duration of the week. Some schools may also fly Indigenous flags.
Schools in Limestone will participate in this online event which will provide historical workshops, exclusive video content, and activities for students — all supported by artistic and cultural performances by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists.

September 30, 2021 marks the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation which is also Orange Shirt Day, the culminating activity of Truth and Reconciliation Week. Individuals are invited to wear orange on September 30 to commemorate the residential school experience and honour the healing journey of survivors and their families. On this day, we are encouraged to learn more about the history of these schools and create meaningful discussions about the effects of residential schools and the legacy they have left behind. We can do this by raising awareness, providing truthful education, and showing survivors that they matter.
