Public Health declared an outbreak on Nov. 24 following identification of another positive case in a student from the same cohort. Two students tested positive on Nov. 22 and one student tested positive on Nov. 21. This brings the total cases at the school to five. The school remains open but visitors are restricted at this time.
- Three students tested positive at James R. Henderson on Nov. 27: Two students and one new cohort are now self-isolating. The third case was already self-isolating due to a previous cohort, so there is no new impact on the school community. One student on Nov. 26, one class cohort dismissed. One student on Nov. 24: one class cohort and one bus cohort are isolating and the school remains open.
- One student at Cataraqui Woods Elementary School on Nov. 24: one cohort is isolating and the school remains open. On Nov. 26 a second student tested positive for COVID-19. It has been determined that this case poses no risk to students or staff.
- One student at Molly Brant on Nov. 27: This case was already isolating from a previously dismissed cohort. Four students on Nov. 26. Two cases already isolating and two required two new cohorts being dismissed. Two on Nov. 25: one case was already isolating and one required a new cohort dismissal. One student on Nov. 24: one cohort is isolating. The school remains in outbreak, however, the school remains open.
- KFL&A Public Health declared outbreak at Truedell Public School on Nov. 23 following identification of a second positive case in a student in the same cohort. There are now a total of three cases at the school, only two are linked to the outbreak. Two class cohorts and one bus cohort are isolating and following directions from public health. The school remains open, however, visitors are limited at this time.
- One student at Kingston Secondary School on Nov. 25: one class cohort is isolating. One student on Nov. 23: two cohorts have been dismissed. This brings the current total cases at the school to three. The school remains open. These cases do not constitute an outbreak as transmission did not occur at the school.
- One staff member at Storrington Public School: no risk to the school community and the school remains open.
- Three students at Rideau Public School on Nov. 23: no risk to the school community and the school remains open.
- One student at Polson Park Public School on Nov. 24 and one student on Nov. 22: neither case poses a risk to the school community and the school remains open. These cases do not constitute an outbreak as transmission did not happen at school.
- One student tested positive for COVID-19 at Lord Strathcona P.S. on Nov. 27: this case was already isolating. One student tested positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 23: this case was already isolating and there is no new impact to the school. This follows the identification of two positive cases in students on Nov. 22: one case was already isolating and has no further impact on the school; one case has led to one class cohort and one bus cohort being dismissed to isolate and complete testing. This brings the total number of cases at the school to four. These cases do not constitute an outbreak as transmission did not occur at school. The school remains open.
In cases where it has been determined that there is no risk to students or staff, cohorts are not required to isolate and the schools will remain open.
Instances when a positive case in a school poses no risk to the school include:
- The case(s) is learning or teaching virtually and has not been in the school.
- The case(s) was already isolating and not attending school because they were previously identified as a close contact of a case.
- The case(s) was not present at the school when they were infectious.
KFL&A Public Health works closely with schools to ensure that necessary steps are taken to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community.
All families should continue to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and screen students daily as most cases of COVID-19 are acquired in the home setting.
Cases in schools must be reported locally and provincially. We are sharing this information with you to ensure you have accurate information. No further information will be released to maintain privacy.
