Families invited to Safe Spaces Symposium Oct. 5

Creating safe and inclusive spaces is the focus of the Limestone District School Board Parent Involvement Committee's annual fall symposium.

The Safe Spaces Symposium will include four guest speakers:

  • Award-winning Activist Jamil Jivani on Why Young Men: Rage, Race and the Crisis of Identity
  • Truth & Reconciliation Education Lead Kevin Lamoureux on Mental Health, Well-Being & Reconciliation
  • Gender & Sexuality Studies Professor Dr. Lee Airton on How to be gender friendly; and
  • KFL&A Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore on Dangers of Vaping

The event takes place Saturday, Oct. 5 at St. Lawrence College. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with refreshments and an opportunity to visit the Community Carousel featuring local programs and services for families.

Some of our carousel partners include Youth 2 Kingston, Bereaved Families of Ontario, Extend-A-Family, Youth Diversion, Maltby Centre, Kingston Community Health Centre, Learning Disabilities Association of Kingston and Queen's Outreach.

Speakers will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a break for lunch.
