The Limestone District School Board is establishing an LDSB Virtual School to accommodate students who have decided to opt for remote learning for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

LDSB Virtual Secondary School

The LDSB Virtual Secondary School will launch on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 10 a.m.

Students will receive an email to their LDSB email account over the  weekend.

Students will then be able to check their Virtual School timetable by logging into their myBlueprint account.  Students can log into their Block 1/Period 1 D2L course via Minds Online.  The email that students receive will contain more detailed information about processes and procedures for virtual learning.

All students of the LDSB Virtual School will also complete a short online orientation course in Minds Online at the beginning of Block 1/Period 1. The orientation course is available now if anyone is interested in getting a head start.

If you are having difficulty logging in, are new to Limestone, or require technical support, please contact our ITS team at 613.417.3559 Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or email.

Please read more about the LDSB Virtual School.

If you have questions, please email Steve Ward, Secondary Lead Administrator, LDSB Virtual School, or call 613.817.9322 (as of September 8).

LDSB Virtual Elementary School

In Limestone, we are supporting Elementary Virtual School students who have opted for remote learning using a phased approach.

Families of elementary students who have opted out of returning to in-person school should receive communication from their home school teacher by September 8, 2020 via the students’ Limestone email or phone call to the students’ home.

If you are having difficulty accessing your students’ Limestone email, or are new to Limestone, please contact the board’s Information Technology Services team at 613.417.3559 Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Phase 1: Home school support (September 8-23, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

  • Students can engage in the learning activities provided by their home school teacher at their own pace
  • The home school classroom teacher will monitor the progress of learning during this period through periodic check ins (e.g. phone calls home).
  • Students/families can access phone help or virtual meeting support with the assigned learning activities from our Synchronous Student Support Team made up of elementary teachers and educational assistants.
  • To access help with the work assigned from home schools, call 613.817.9322 from September 8-23 on school days between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and request telephone support or support through a virtual meeting.
  • Students will be provided some opportunities to join larger virtual learning meetings beginning the week of September 14 in addition to learning activities assigned by the home school.
  • LDSB Virtual School staff will coordinate with home schools to ensure students who require a device are able to get one from the home school and ITS will explore new Internet connections for students where required and available.
  • To access technical support, call 613.417.3559 or email.

Phase 2 of remote learning will begin September 24 and will see elementary students placed in virtual classes with other elementary students from across the district with a dedicated teacher who will be assigned to the virtual school. Students will then follow a regular timetable for learning as they would in in-person school with online classes beginning at 9 a.m. and ending by 3:20 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Please read more about the LDSB Virtual School.

If you would like to opt in or out anytime on or before September 14, 2020, please call your home school. Another opportunity to opt in or out at a later date is still to be determined.

If you are interested in remote learning that is not online/virtual, and you have not already shared this information with your home school, or have other questions, please email Sara Wellwood, LDSB Virtual School Elementary Lead Administrator, or call 613.817.9322 (as of September 8).
