The Limestone District School Board has received approval for its 2019-2020 School Year Calendar from the Ministry of Education.
Trustees approved the draft calendar in March following receipt of a report outlining the process for determining the school year calendar which included consultation with internal stakeholders, community partners and families.
Provincial regulations state that school year start on or after Sept. 1 and end on or before June 30. Every school year shall include a minimum of 194 school days.
Boards in the Tri-Board Student Transportation consortium (LDSB, Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board and Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board) have traditionally agreed on a common calendar to share transportation costs.
The 2019-2020 School Year Calendar includes these notable days:
- School starts on Sept. 3, 2019
- Seven PA days in total (Sept. 27, Nov. 1, Nov. 29, Jan. 31, April 3, June 5 and June 26)
- Two PA days are required for elementary reporting: Jan. 31 and June 5
- Semester 1 runs from Sept. 3 to Jan. 30 inclusive
- Semester 2 runs from Jan. 31 to June 26
- Each semester consists of 97 school days
- Last day of school is June 25
