The Ministry of Education released its Guide to Reopening Ontario’s Schools on July 30, 2020 which was developed in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the COVID-19 Command Table and pediatric experts. In Limestone, the reopening plan invites all students (elementary and secondary) to return to school in-person, five days a week. In-school student attendance is voluntary. Remote learning via the LDSB Virtual School is available for students who do not wish to attend in-person.

The Board’s priority remains the safety and well-being of our students and staff as we reopen our schools.
We remain committed to a safe and successful transition for everyone. We continue to work closely with KFL&A Public Health and other local medical officials to inform our plans while following directions from the Ministry of Education to help ensure our schools and worksites are safe. We also continue to coordinate with our partners at Tri-Board Student Transportation Services, our neighbouring school boards, and other labour and community partners.

Our plans include several strategies to support on the physical, mental and social well-being of everyone who learns or works with us. These include: health and safety standards for screening and personal protection; enhanced cleaning protocols; focused supports for mental health and well-being; and dedicated supports for students with special education needs.

This webpage outlines all of the important information students and families need to know including COVID-19 screening, school protocols, reporting of positive cases, well-being resources, information on our Virtual School, frequently asked questions and links to additional supports from our partners at KFL&A Public Health. This area will be updated regularly as new information becomes available and/or circumstances change.

The Limestone District School Board is situated on traditional territories of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee.
