Tutors in the Classroom

Limestone Learning Foundation

Research shows that with the appropriate support, all students can be successful learners. Some students face more challenges than others as they learn to read, write and do mathematics. The Tutors in the Classroom Program offers direct student support in literacy and mathematical literacy during the school day for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 in sites where a tutor is available. The program is co-funded by the Board and the Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat.

Tutors are current post-secondary students with an interest in pursuing a career in education. The program runs from October to April, with some continued support in May and/or June. Tutor application information is posted on the website in September and January. Hiring and training of the tutors follows.

The Limestone District School Board is situated on traditional territories of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee.
