  • One positive case of COVID-19 in a student at Central Public School on Nov. 10: one class cohort and one after-school cohort are isolating. The school remains open.
  • One positive case of COVID-19 in a student at J.G. Simcoe Public School on Nov. 10: no risk to school community and no isolations required. School remains open.
  • One positive case of COVID-19 in a student at Katarokwi Learning Centre on Nov. 10: no risk to school community and no isolations required. School remains open.
  • One positive case of COVID-19 in a student at Rideau Heights Public School on Nov. 10: this case was already isolating and there is no new impact on the school community.
  • One positive case of COVID-19 in a student at Perth Road Public School on Nov. 13; one in a student on Nov. 12; and one in a student on Nov. 10: these cases are already isolating and there is no new impact on the school community.
  • One positive case in a student at Rideau Public School on Nov. 12. KFL&A Public Health declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at Rideau Public School following the identification of an additional three cases in students on Nov. 9. Two students tested positive on Nov. 7. This brings the total number of cases at the school to six. The new cases were already isolating and so there is no new impact to the school community. The school remains open at this time, but visitors will be restricted.
  • One positive case of COVID-19 in a student at Molly Brant Elementary School on Nov. 8: this case was already isolating and there is no new impact on the school community.
  • One positive case of COVID-19 in a staff member at the LDSB Education Centre (Board Office) on Nov. 8: this case poses no risk to those working at this site.

In cases where it has been determined that there is no risk to students or staff, cohorts are not required to isolate and the schools will remain open.

Instances when a positive case in a school poses no risk to the school include:

  • The case(s) is learning or teaching virtually and has not been in the school.
  • The case(s) was already isolating and not attending school because they were previously identified as a close contact of a case.
  • The case(s) was not present at the school when they were infectious.

KFL&A Public Health works closely with schools to ensure that necessary steps are taken to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community.

All families should continue to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and screen students daily as most cases of COVID-19 are acquired in the home setting.

Cases in schools must be reported locally and provincially. We are sharing this information with you to ensure you have accurate information. No further information will be released to maintain privacy.
