KFL&A Public Health has notified the Limestone District School Board of positive cases of COVID-19 at the following area schools for the week of November 1-7, 2021, 2021:

  • KFL&A Public Health has indicated a staff member at Rideau Heights Public School tested positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 7, 2021. This is in addition to previously identified cases: one student on Nov. 4 (already isolating), four students on Nov. 3 (already isolating) and one student on Nov. 2. There are currently seven cases at the school. A student case identified on Oct. 27 has resolved. A total of two class cohorts have been dismissed and are following direction from public health. At this time, the school remains open.
  • KFL&A Public Health has identified two students at Rideau Public School on Nov. 7, 2021: One class cohort and one bus cohort are isolating. One case poses no risk to the school community. The school remains open.
  • KFL&A Public Health has identified one student at Amherstview Public School on Nov. 6, 2021: One class cohort and bus cohort are isolating and the school remains open.
  • KFL&A Public Health has identified one student at Odessa Public School on Nov. 6, 2021: One class cohort and bus cohort are isolating and the school remains open.
  • KFL&A Public Health identified one student and one other person at Molly Brant Elementary School on Nov. 6, 2021: these cases were already isolating and no new impact to the school community.
  • KFL&A Public Health has identified one student at Cataraqui Woods Elementary School on Nov. 5, 2021 and one staff member on Nov. 4, 2021: Two cohorts are isolating and the school remains open. This is not considered an outbreak as Public Health has determined transmission did not occur at school.
  • KFL&A Public Health has identified one student at Lancaster Drive Public School on Nov. 3, 2021: No risk to school community.
  • KFL&A Public Health has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at Perth Road Public School. Cases were identified in two students on Nov. 6 (no new cohort), one student on Nov. 4 (no new cohort), one case in a student on Nov. 3 (no new cohort), three student cases on Nov. 2, 2021, and one case in a staff member on Nov. 1, 2021. There are currently eight active cases connected to the school. Public health has dismissed a total of seven class cohorts and one bus cohort. At this time, the school remains open. Visitors are restricted at this time.
  • KFL&A Public Health identified an additional two cases in students at R.G. Sinclair Public School on Nov. 3, 2021: Students were already in isolation.

In cases where it has been determined that there is no risk to students or staff, cohorts are not required to isolate and the schools will remain open.

Instances when a positive case in a school poses no risk to the school include:

  • The case(s) is learning or teaching virtually and has not been in the school.
  • The case(s) was already isolating and not attending school because they were previously identified as a close contact of a case.
  • The case(s) was not present at the school when they were infectious.

KFL&A Public Health works closely with schools to ensure that necessary steps are taken to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community.

All families should continue to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and screen students daily as most cases of COVID-19 are acquired in the home setting.

Cases in schools must be reported locally and provincially. We are sharing this information with you to ensure you have accurate information. No further information will be released to maintain privacy.
