Local Government Week 2020
Posted on 10/15/2020
Local Government Week takes place October 19 to 23. This is an annual time to recognize the leadership and contributions of school board trustees, municipal councillors and mayors.

Trustees of the Limestone District School Board, in conjunction with their provincial organization, are working to raise civic awareness among schools and communities by providing educational opportunities to students, where appropriate.

School trustees are the oldest form of elected representative in Ontario – they’ve been making decisions since 1807. Trustees ensure schools operate within the standards set by the province.

The Board of Trustees sets the vision, develops policies, allocates resources, and sets the goals that lay the foundation driving programs and operations in the school district. Collectively, they create the multi-year strategic plan for student achievement and well-being and recruit and monitor the performance of the Director of Education to ensure progress is made towards in achieving the Board’s strategic goals.

The Limestone District School Board is situated on traditional territories of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee.
