Limestone District School Board Trustee Laurie French was acclaimed as President of the Canadian School Boards Association (CSBA) for the 2019-2020 school year at its Annual General Meeting on July 4, 2019.

The CSBA consists of members from provincial school boards associations that represent just over 300 school boards, serving close to four million elementary and secondary school students across Canada. The CSBA’s Board of Directors is comprised of the President of each provincial association.

The CSBA advocates educational success for each and every student and promotes the value of locally elected school boards. The vision of the CSBA is excellence in public education achieved through school boards.

"I am very proud of the work we are all doing collectively to support public education across the country," said French. "Governing school boards provide community voice at a policy and governance level in public education, and this ultimately supports students. I look forward to continuing  to find opportunities to support provincial associations and members in this important work.”

This is French’s second term as CSBA President. Prior to that she served as President and Vice-President of the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association. French is currently Vice-Chair of the Limestone District School Board.

The Limestone District School Board is situated on traditional territories of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee.
