Chadwick was appointed to the Portsmouth, Trillium & Meadowbrook-Strathcona (Districts 5, 6 and 8)  by the Limestone District School Board at a Special Meeting of the Board May 29, 2018.

She will be sworn in as Trustee of the Board at the June 20, 2018 Board Meeting and will serve until the end of the 2014-2018 term, November 30, 2018.

The vacancy is due to the death of Trustee David Jackson earlier this spring.

Trustee Chadwick served on the Limestone District School Board for 11 years, seven of which she served as either Vice-Chair or Chair. Chadwick was first elected in 2003, representing Cataraqui, Kingscourt-Strathcona, and King's Town districts in the City of Kingston. Her children are graduates of LCVI, and she is still a resident of the district.

The Education Act requires the appointment of “qualified person to fill the vacancy within 90 days after the office becomes vacant.”

The Act specifically rules out a by-election because the vacancy did not occur before April 1 this year, which is a year of a regular election to the Board. Trustees chose to appoint a former Trustee to assume the vacancy because they would be considered a qualified person, well versed in LDSB policies and procedures, and can represent the constituents immediately.
