Labour Update January 17, 2020
Posted on 01/17/2020
All Limestone schools will be open on Monday, January 20 and Tuesday, January 21, 2020. LDSB is not affected by the one-day strikes on these days. All classes will operate as scheduled.

The Ontario Secondary Schools Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) are holding rotating one-day strikes at selected school boards across the province January 20 and 21 if a central agreement can not be reached.

The Limestone District School Board is NOT one of the targeted school boards. All Limestone schools are open.

In Limestone, OSSTF represents education workers including secondary school teachers, occasional teachers, professional student services personnel, and community education instructors. ETFO-Limestone represents elementary teachers in the LDSB.

We remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached soon at the central bargaining table between the province, the unions, and the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA), which represents public school boards at the provincial table.

It is important for families to know that there will be no impact on student learning and the delivery of the curriculum at this time.

The Board will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
