Summer Session (Secondary)

Limestone Learning Foundation

Summer Session is a great option for students who wish to complete an additional credit or who may need to upgrade a mark during the summer. Courses are offered for students currently in Grades 9 to 12.

The Limestone District School Board will offer Secondary Summer Session 2018 at Bayridge Secondary School from July 3 to 27, 2018. On-site courses are available for students who wish to upgrade their marks, or for students who wish to "reach ahead" to earn credits for courses they have not previously taken. Co-operative education opportunities and e-Learning courses are also be available to students.

Summer Session 2018 online registration is now closed. You can register in person at Bayridge Secondary School on Saturday, June 30 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or Monday, July 2 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

For more information, please see the menus below.

Summer Session Information

There are three different ways to engage in Summer Session 2018:

  • e-Learning Courses: fully online courses (average 6–8 hours daily)
  • On-Site Courses: on-site at Bayridge Secondary School (8:13 a.m. – 3 p.m., daily)
  • Cooperative Education: supervised off-site (students are responsible for securing their own placements)

Students can register online for on-site, e-learning, or co-op courses at any LDSB secondary school until Wednesday, June 20, 2018. The Summer Session Office will also accept walk-in registrations from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. between Saturday, June 30 and Wednesday, July 4 at Bayridge Secondary School, 1059 Taylor-Kidd Blvd.

If you want to take co-op, you will need to arrange a work placement prior to the start of Summer Session. Please connect with your school’s Guidance Counsellor.

Students currently in Grade 8 (who will be entering Grade 9 in September 2018) are not eligible to attend Secondary Summer Session.

Busing is available to some students.
There is no application to complete. Be aware of your bus route, bus number, and times of pick up. Please put your bus route number on the registration form.

Students who live in areas that have access to Kingston Transit to Bayridge Secondary School must use it as there is no school bus overlap.

Attendance is important during Summer Session. A student may be asked to withdraw after three unapproved absences. A number of lates will result in a meeting with the Summer Session Principal.

Cafeteria services will not be available during Summer Session. Students are encouraged to bring their lunch from home.

Please bring a post-dated cheque (dated August 1, 2018) of $50 on the first day of Summer Session. This cheque should be made payable to LDSB Summer Session and will only be cashed in the event textbooks are not returned.

All non-LDSB students with IEPs should attach a hard copy of your IEP to the Registration Form. LDSB students’ IEPs will be accessed electronically.

Assume that your course is running unless you receive a phone call or email prior to July 3, 2018.
