Student Support Counsellors

Student Support Counsellors support the needs of students with social, emotional, behavioural and/or attendance issues at the elementary school level.  Emphasis is placed on early intervention to provide the support necessary for students to experience school success.  The Student Support Counsellors provide support to students who have been referred by the school with parent’s/guardian’s permission.  The Student Support Counsellor assists the school by problem-solving with staff to identify concerns and develop a plan to support the student, teacher, staff and family.  Student Support Counsellors provide system support in the areas of prevention, behaviour, individual support, crisis management and consultation.
