French as a Second Language - Early French Immersion
The ability to communicate in French is a valuable skill. At the Limestone District School Board, an Early French Immersion program is offered with entry points in JK, SK, and grade 1. In the program at each grade, the Ontario provincial curriculum is implemented for all subject areas. For students from JK to grade 2, their day is 100% in French. English language instruction begins in grade 3. Early French Immersion students have the option of continuing their secondary studies at Frontenac Secondary School, Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute, Napanee District Secondary School & Sydenham High School).
Upon completion of the required credits, students will receive an additional Limestone District certificate. The French Language skills developed in reading, writing, and oral communication give graduates an edge in today's competitive job market.
Credits required for the Limestone District Certificates of French Study:
- Core: 4 Core French credits
- Extended: 7 Extended credits (4 in French Language Studies)
- Immersion: 10 Immersion credits (4 in French Immersion Language Studies)
