Ministry seeking feedback on Indigenous Education Policy Framework
The Ministry of Education is seeking feedback from students and families to help inform the development of the Third Progress Report on the implementation of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Policy Framework.

The First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Education Policy Framework is intended to provide context within which the Ministry of Education, school boards, and schools will work together to improve the academic achievement of Indigenous students who attend provincially-funded elementary and secondary schools in Ontario. The framework also clarifies the roles and relationships of the ministry, school boards, and schools in their efforts to help First Nation, Métis, and Inuit students achieve their educational goals and close the gap in academic achievement with their non-Indigenous counterparts.

As part of the engagement and data collection process, students and families are invited to participate in an online survey in English or French. This survey is intended to capture the successes and help to identify promising practices and opportunities to provide further support to enhance the achievement and well-being of Indigenous students.

Participation in this survey is voluntary, and all responses are confidential. That means that all answers will be combined anonymously (without any identifying information) with the answers received from other participants. No one who sees the answers will be able to link them to any individual person.

The survey will remain open until June 23, 2017

In addition to the online survey, the Ministry is also offering a series online focus groups for students and families (see dates and times below). To participate, please RSVP via email to thirdprogressreport@gmail.com indicating which session you would like to attend. Please note that every effort will be made to accommodate requests, however, spaces are limited to 10-12 people per session on a first-come, first-served basis.
