The International Education Program gives students from outside Canada the opportunity to study at a local elementary or secondary school in the Limestone District School Board’s jurisdiction. Currently there are over 160 international students from countries such as Hong Kong, Korea, China, and Mexico attending schools in our district. Also, over 200 students from Spain, France and Korea will attend our schools for periods ranging from 2 weeks to 2 months throughout the school year and summer.
The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) offers international students the opportunity to live with a Canadian family while enrolled in a LDSB school. Students learn about Canadian culture, lifestyle, customs and expectations. Over local 200 families are involved each year with the international student homestay program.
The International Education Department is seeking to expand the existing program to approximately 250 full-time students. In support of this long term goal, marketing efforts have expanded to include other countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Turkey and Germany.
