Business Arising From the Minutes

SEAC Orientation Package Update

Copies of the draft Welcome letter and Table of Contents that will be included in the SEAC Orientation package were distributed.

Trustee Murray advised that the information to be included in the SEAC Orientation package would be placed in a Limestone District School Board presentation folder, noting that the Provincial Parent Association Advisory Committee (PAaC) on SEAC, Effective Practices Handbook for SEAC Members 2010, would also be included in the package.

Trustee Murray indicated that the final draft would be brought to the June 8, 2011 SEAC meeting for approval, and she asked committee members to review the information, and if they had any further suggestions or comments, to please let her know as soon as possible.

Funding Information

Trustee Murray advised that the Limestone District School Board will not receive any new funding, but that there would be no further funding reductions either.

Supervising Principal McDonnell reported that while we do not anticipate experiencing as significant reductions in funding as we have seen in past years; we will expect to see some reductions because of declining enrolment in our Board, and our funding is based on enrolment.

Supervising Principal McDonnell reported that we have received a letter from the Ministry that will give us further information, and that further funding information would be brought to the June 8, 2011 SEAC meeting for information.

Supervising Principal McDonnell advised that a letter was faxed to Director Hunter and herself from a parent expressing concerns about students in school to community programs and examination scheduling.  She stated that the letter indicated that Trustees and SEAC members were also to receive a copy of the letter; however, Trustees Murray and Crawford did not receive it.  She said that she would share the contents of the letter at the June 8, 2011 SEAC meeting.
